Head Veterinary Nurses

VICKI SMITH ( BSc hons) R.V.N HEAD VETERINARY NURSE vicki smith

Hi I'm Vicki.  Since a child my ambition has always been to work and care for animals.    After completing my A levels I went on to do a 4 year Veterinary nursing degree at Middlesex University and the Royal Veterinary College.  I graduated with BSc hons degree in 2006 and worked in a practice in Essex for a year.  I have also completed the hills Veterinary Health Advisor course and the Royal Canin pet healthcare councilor course as I have a keen interest in pet nutrition.

My whole life consists of animals and I enjoy each day that I work with them.  I have many of my own pets.  I have 2 dogs, a cheeky terrier called Lenny and a loving rotweiller x called Baby Belle.  Two cats pumpkin and Tubby ( who I hand reared last summer) and a horse called Moss that I own with Claire.  So you can see I'm animal mad and wouln't be able to do any other job but this one.

CLAIRE MURPHY R.V.N HEAD VETERINARY NURSE claire murphy

Veterinary Nurses

CHELBY KENTEN

Hi there, I'm Chelby. I have been nursing for about 9 years now and absolutely love it: I cannot imagine doing any other job. I originally started work at our Sheerness clinic, spending 6 years there, but have been at the Minster branch now for the last 3 years. I really enjoy the different challenges every day brings whether its nursing our surgical patients, assisting the vet, advising clients about their pets health and welfare in our nurse clincs or helping the more cuddly pets lose weight.......I never really know whats coming through the door next!!

I have a very keen interest in herbal medicine and holistic treatments - mainly Reiki and Crystal therapy, which I practice daily at work and at home. I hope to develop further in these areas.

My 'Furry' family at home consists of my dog Bailey (Cavalier King Charles), Bramble (the cat), Little Fu (3 legged Persian with attitude!!!), Wacko & Jacko (Guinea Pigs) and my chickens Dolly, Daphne & KFC!

I also run a small guniea pig rescue/rehoming service called 'A few Guinea's', taking in unwanted and abandoned piggies, treating any medical conditions the may have and finding them loving new homes.

I aim to continue caring for animals for many years to come.

JANET HIGERTY R.V.N VETERINARY NURSE

Hi my name is Janet and i've been working as a Veterinary Nurse since 1994 and having moved to a training practice I became a qualified nurse in 2005. I then continued my training at a practice in Maidstone where I became a A1 assessor of student veterinary nurses. I moved to wellpets in January 2009 and have found that the team are superb with both the clients and patients as well as their colleagues.

As with most of the nurses I have a collection of broken or worn out animals including "Murphy", a geriatric whippet cross, a three legged yorkie cross called "Tryke" as well as two cats, one called "Dotty" who has a very peculiar tail and "Fizz" who was hand reared.

I have had pets since a very young age and have always wanted a career working alongside them so I am pleased to say that I have the job I have always wanted.

Receptionists

JUDI LENTEN judy lenten

Hi I'm Judi. I have worked in the veterinary world since 1985, starting out as a nurse and now looking after the clientele and their pets in reception.

Two months before I was born a little dog named Laika was launched into space to orbit the earth. I was bought up on the story of Laika, who was chosen from a dog compound and led away to begin her new life, she must have been so happythat day, she must have thought she was going to have a family of her very own. Instead she was blasted into space where she died a few hours later from stress, panic and overheating alone in space. To this day the story of Laika reduces me to tears, and ive resolved to do whatever I can to help any animal in distress and pain in whatever way I can. Climbing into a space rocket to release Laika would be impressive. But in my own small way as receptionist at Wellpets I can on a daily basis bring the necessary help and assistance to any pet that is sick, in pain or distress.

My own pets include a very scummy tabby cat called " Norbert" and two dogs "Hubble" the most docile retriever you'll ever meet, and his bodyguard "Diesel" my obedient and loyal - grow it and see! xxx

VIVIENNE WOZNY vivienne wonzy

Hi I'm Viv, I have only been here a short while and have enjoyed every day! I'm such an animal lover and have always wanted to work with animals in one way or another, and even though I am upstairs in the office, I come down everyday to greet the animals we are caring for and often pop out in the waiting room to fuss the animals waiting, It's such a great job!  The team here are also fantastic and it's touching to see how much passion and hard work that goes into the animals that come in.  I have two rescued cats at home called Pepples and Scholes (see in photo gallery) they are adored....and they know it!!
